Freedom Meets Friendly Guidance

At Paint Club, each Monday evening starts with a fresh technique - like color theory, self-portraiture, or crafting your own paints, introduced in a relaxed, approachable way. Then, you’ll dive into your own creative project for the rest of the session, guided by artists who are there to support your vision instead of prescribing what you should make. The studio is your space: feel free to laugh, chat, and experiment in a judgment-free, collaborative environment, whether you’re a beginner or a more experienced painter looking for inspiration and connection.

It’s about building friendships, stretching creative muscles, and filling your Mondays with creativity. By the end of ten weeks, expect at least two finished paintings, a sketchbook bursting with ideas, and a sense of creative community that keeps inspiring you long after the course is over.

Elliot Stew

Hi, I’m Elliot Stew, a professional artist and founder of Zurich Art Club. I studied painting at the Central Saint Martins in London, where I honed my expertise and passion for creative expression. After moving to Switzerland, I opened an art gallery in Sankt Moritz and set out to make Zurich the most creative city in the country through the Zurich Art Club.

I believe painting should be personal and freeing! Not about copying others. In Paint Club, you will learn to develop your unique artistic voice while gaining a lifelong toolbox of painting techniques. I’m excited to guide you on this creative journey and look forward to painting together with you soon!

  • Paint Club is held at the Zurich Art Club’s main Zurich studio. Super easy to reach by Bus and Tram and fully equipped for creative work.

  • Paint Club welcomes absolutely everyone: absolute beginners, hobbyists, and experienced painters wanting a studio vibe and supportive network. This course is for ages 16+ but we do have a Paint Club for under 16’s too!

  • No. All material is included: sketchbook, canvases, unlimited paints, and more. We offer the option to purchase extra canvases if you want to go big or finish more than two projects.

  • Each week introduces a new art technique, like color theory, self-portrait sketching, canvas stretching, abstract painting, or even making your own natural watercolours. The rest of class is for your own painting, but we’re always on hand with expert support.

  • Absolutely! Only the first 30 minutes involve a shared introduction. After that, it’s your creative space. Paint what you like, with friendly guidance always available.

  • Paint Club is limited to 8 people per group to ensure a relaxed, social, and highly personalised experience.

  • Expect at least two finished canvases, a sketchbook full of ideas, and a big jump in your skills and creative confidence, plus new creativity-loving friends in Zürich.

  • Yes, all your projects are looked after at the studio until the end of the course, so you never have to worry about space or wet canvases between classes.

  • The full 10-week painting course is 580 CHF and includes all materials, a sketchbook, two canvases, and use of the studio and a guided museum tour. Extra canvases are available to buy if desired.
