At Zurich Art Club, we tailor each session to your team’s specific needs, ensuring everyone walks away inspired and connected. In this post, we’ll explore the benefits of choosing a creative approach to your Teams Event in Zurich, highlight four of our signature workshops, and show you how customisation can make all the difference in strengthening team spirit.
Meet the Founders: Elliot & Helen
From Central Saint Martins to Zurich
Behind every creative event is a story - and ours begins at Central Saint Martins in London, where we (Helen and Elliot) studied Fine Art before relocating to Switzerland. Our mission? Help individuals and companies discover the transformative power of creativity through hands-on, engaging workshops.
Our Personal Journeys
Helen Waldburger: After completing a BA (Hons) in Fine Art in 2018, Helen pursued a multi-media practice, working primarily in ceramics and painting. During the global pandemic, Elliot and herself opened a pop-up gallery in St. Moritz - an ambitious leap that taught us how art can uplift communities even in challenging times. When she’s not leading workshops, she’s reading 1970s sci-fi feminist novels or walking her dog, Roxy.
Elliot Stew: Also a 2018 Fine Arts graduate, I’ve worked between London and Switzerland, splitting my time between teaching courses at Zurich Art Club, maintaining my own physical art practice, and experimenting with Web3 projects. Away from the studio, I love writing music and enjoying a cold beer.

Why Creativity Enhances Team Building Zürich
Science-Backed Benefits
Research conducted by the University of Exeter suggests that teams engaging in creative tasks show a marked improvement in collaborative skills and overall job satisfaction. Another study from Stanford University concluded that group-based creativity exercises can reduce stress levels by as much as 15%, leading to more productive work environments.

Breaking Down Barriers
Art has a unique way of lowering social defences. When colleagues share paintbrushes or a pottery wheel, hierarchy takes a back seat. Everyone’s simply a creative soul exploring new territory together. This fosters trust, communication, and empathy - key attributes for any well-functioning team.
The Perfect Combination of Fun and Focus
Engaging in a creative project demands a certain level of concentration, yet it remains enjoyable and relaxed. The dual effect of fun and focus ensures that participants learn to solve problems collaboratively while also having a laugh - memories that can strengthen workplace relationships long after the event ends.
1. Pottery Painting: Unwind or Achieve a Common Goal
Zürich based Professionals can enjoy Pottery Painting to strengthen bonds and spark innovation!
Two Approaches, One Medium
Pottery Painting is a popular choice for Team Events in Zürich because it offers two distinct styles of participation:
Individual Projects: Everyone decorates their own piece, emphasising relaxation and personal expression. This suits teams needing a gentle wind-down or a break from high-stress projects.
Shared Mission: Collaborate on a ceramic set for the office - think matching mugs, plates, or decorative items. Here, communication, forward planning, and coordinated aesthetics are vital, mirroring real-world team dynamics.
Benefits at a Glance
Reduced Stress: The tactile nature of clay and painting helps quiet the mind.
Enhanced Communication: Working on a single outcome pushes teammates to align goals and discuss creative decisions.
Tangible Result: You’ll have a permanent reminder of your collaborative effort - perfect for the break room or lobby.

Who It Suits
Teams Seeking Relaxation: Perfect for offices coping with deadlines or stressful projects.
Detail-Oriented Departments: If your team thrives on planning or design, they’ll love mapping out a cohesive look.
Introverts + Extroverts: Pottery painting offers space for quiet reflection and lively group discussions.

2. Paint Your Person: Pair Up for a Portrait Experience
A Fun Take on Icebreaking
If you want to see your colleagues in a whole new light, Paint Your Person does the trick. We pair up participants, hand out canvases, the needed knowledge to take your first steps and encourage everyone to paint each other’s portraits - no advanced skill required as there is always an artist on hand to guide you! There’s nothing quite like looking someone in the eye while trying to capture their essence on canvas; it’s part silly, part revealing, and always 100% memorable. The finished pieces can be gifted to each other or even hung in your office!
Why It Works
Boosts Empathy: Observing a colleague’s facial expressions and nuances helps foster mutual understanding.
Encourages Intimacy: Painting someone’s features, even if just for fun, often leads to deeper personal connections.
Improves Confidence: Stepping outside comfort zones can empower teams to embrace creative risks back in the office.
Who Benefits
New Teams or Departments: Fantastic for breaking the ice where colleagues don’t yet know each other well.
Client-Facing Roles: Sharpen that observational skill and empathy.
Teams Wanting a Laugh: Expect quirky results, comedic moments, and hopefully some hidden artistic talent!
We know every team is different, so we customise the Paint your Person workshop to fit every team so drop us a line to plan your Team Building Event in Zürich and we’d love to plan a personalised art session for your team.

3. Clay Workshops: Build Something Amazing Together
Handbuilding for Team Building Zürich
Beyond painting, there’s also the tactile excitement of handbuilding clay from scratch. In these sessions, your team can create functional or decorative items by shaping, coiling, or sculpting raw clay—no pottery wheel required. Think of it as a mini feat of engineering and artistry wrapped into one.
(We’ve seen teams create whimsical coiled vases that become treasured office centrepieces! If you’re curious about more clay-centric events, have a glance at our Big Coiling Workshop for a quirky twist.)
Benefits & Highlights
Hands-On Focus: Touch and texture help participants stay present, a boon for mindful collaboration.
Shared Creativity: You can opt to produce a communal piece (like a statement sculpture or a set of tiles for the office), requiring input and group consensus at every turn.
Stress Relief: Squeezing, rolling, and moulding clay can be surprisingly calming, making this ideal for employees who rarely escape their desks.
Who It Suits
Teams Needing a Digital Detox: The chance to escape screens and engage physically.
Project Management Roles: Managing resources (clay, tools, time) fosters real-life synergy.
Innovation-Focused Companies: Encourages out-of-the-box thinking through spontaneous design solutions.

4. DIY Watercolour Paint Sets: A Unique Product to Take Away
The Power of Shared Creation
Making your own watercolour paints might sound niche, but it’s a surefire way to captivate a group and get the chance to dive a little deeper, both into creativity and science’s role in art. This session blends art history - like the intriguing gum arabic trade - with practical know-how, letting everyone grind pigments, mix their own binder and walk away with a personal paint set they’ve mixed themselves.
Why This Session Stands Out
Deep Historical Roots: Tying your workshop to centuries of pigment-making tradition sparks cultural curiosity.
Collective Skill-Building: Everyone can share tips or “trade secrets” for mixing colours, replicating the synergy found in successful workplaces.
Portable Outcome: Each person leaves with a set of handmade paints, a tangible memento of your event.
Who Benefits
R&D or Product Teams: Perfect for those always seeking new solutions or experimental processes.
Art Enthusiasts: Anyone in your group who’s dabbled in painting or design will relish the chance to craft their own supplies.
Teams Wanting a Niche Twist: If you’re tired of tried-and-tested corporate events, this is refreshingly different.
Mixing your own watercolour paints isn’t for every team, we get that! But get in touch if your Team Event Zürich could use a lick of fresh paint, we’ll plan an event based on the needs of your team.
